Being the main entry point for the online version of the book, we expanded on the look and feel of the book cover and gave it a cleaner and more updated feeling without taking too far. We also needed to repurpose some of the original website's content, like blog posts and podcasts, which were all part of this redesign project.
Being the "beta" version of this project, we created a stable and reliable version 1 of this website centered around the core objectives. The first is having separate navigation for the table of contents and anchoring those items to the chapter content while also making it simple for the backend to add and update content. While keeping anchors where they are was a simple task. The second objective was to create a solution to automatically add anchors to the table contents with additional content with the CMS editor in WordPress, so we developed a software API to meet that objective. We also needed to create a timed prompt that asked for an email address to continue reading, and we also created a timed blocker of content to capture emails. Since this was a beta project, a profile, and login system were unnecessary. As an alternative, we created a caching system that remembered visitor browser profiles so they could return without needing to input their email address (if they already have one) to reveal the content.
