An Iconic Logo

Simple, Modular and Ownable

Having a vision that valued quality over quantity and taking the time to savor the positive elements of life, The client wanted to open a brewery and distillery that captured that. While the vision is still in production, they reached out to us for a simple logo and example branding applications.
Because the nature of the beverage industry is very eccentric and bold, we wanted to create a logo that stood on its own, harnessed the vision, and held its integrity from small to large sizes. We also wanted it to be modular, so they could use just the icon, the logotype, or both together to have broad use cases.

Strategize and Create

A Timeless, Brand-able Identity

After a brief discovery session and a few conversations, we helped shape the brand vision by boiling it down to – “Gathering around a Fire.” This helped kickstart the inspiration, and we got to work designing multiple logos with multiple iterations and tested it in different situations with mockups until we got it right.
Not only did we create a logo, but we also knew a brand was in the making, and they needed something that would last through the years of the constantly evolving business.

Brand Development

As with all our clients, we try to establish a brand filter that fully encompasses the business's passion and purpose. The filter we landed on became the central reference point for all design.

Logo Development

Slowfire had a specific feel they wanted to portray in their logo. Because it was so specific, getting the design just right meant lots of trial and error. "Less is more" is a common phrase tossed around the business community, but sometimes "more is more" is what gets you to the solution. Another requirement for the logo was that the icon needed to look good on a cap without simplifying it, which added to the challenge. We drafted many logos and worked very collaboratively to make sure the logo checked all the requirements and aesthetics.

Final Logo Application Test

We applied it through many different uses to make sure this logo was the one. DesignGum never lets a logo leave our hands until we know for sure it works in real-world situations.
